What does the rough terrain forklift training course cover?
This rough terrain forklift course is suitable for anyone required to use the Rough Terrain Telescopic whether they have never operated before, have some experience or need refresher training.
If you have never operated a rough terrain forklift, this is a dedicated learning programme which helps builds up confidence. Trainees will learn all the theory knowledge associated with this truck, how to check it over to make sure it is safe (pre shift check) as well as how to operate the truck to the correct safety standards outlined by ITSSAR/AITT and recognised by the HSE. A sample of some of the lessons would include:-
The Health and Safety at Work Act including the Approved Code of Practice (L117), PUWER & LOLER regulations
* Rated Capacity
* Operators Safety Code – Do’s and Don’ts
* Dealing with rough ground conditions and environmental issues
* Lift Truck Stability
* Vehicle Loading/Unloading
* Refuelling procedures
Candidates will be given all the necessary information to support them through this course.The course duration is three days for one person, four days for two or five days for three.
Experienced operators: For those who already operate the truck on a regular basis but have never received formal training. This course will make sure operators are following all the correct procedures but the course duration is less. Two days for one or two candidates, three days for three candidates.
SSafety refreshers: This course is for candidates who already hold a certificate for this truck. Whether you have one, two or three candidates this is a one day course.
Conversion: For those who already have a basic training certificate for another forklift truck e.g. Counterbalance, Reach, Pivot Steer, Multi Directional, it is possible to convert skills across to this truck within one to two days.

On successful completion of the above courses, our customer will receive PDF certificates as well as uploaded onto the ITSSAR TOPS/ AITT ACORNS Database as required by the HSE.
So be rest assured that all paperwork will be in order for audit purposes.


This course is for operators with little or no previous experience using a J2 Rough Terrain -9m course complies with the standards set in accordance with the HSE Code of Practice. This also enables successful operators to use any J2 Rough Terrain -9m (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK.
This course is designed for the Operator who has had extensive practical experience, (longer than 12 months) but has never been formally trained or held certification.
Keep your skills up to date. To refresh job safety knowledge, and give corrective remedial and tests to truck operators who though previously trained and certificated may require a short safety refresher course, to maintain the correct standards of operation at an acceptable level.
