We offer fully accredited or in-house Side Loader Training all around the UK. We offer four types of Side Loader Training courses as follows: Novice training courses, refresher training course, experienced with no previous qualification and conversion training courses from another lift truck type.
All these courses are either ITSSAR or AITT accredited or In-House and are fully recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) they provide candidates with the relevant practical skills and knowledge required to correctly yet safely operate a side loader forklift truck within the workplace.
LA Solutions (Training) Ltd can provide forklift training for all industry sectors and corporate clients as well as conversions from a foreign licence to UK accreditation or in-house certification to the ACOP L117 standards.
As with all available courses we can train anywhere within the UK onsite.
Course Overview
Operators should be trained to an essential level of skill to work with side loader forklift trucks safely, efficiently and with competence. By the end of the course the operator should state the reasons for operators training and pass a basic operatives skills test as set out in the HSE publication Rider-Operated Lift Trucks, Approved Code of Practice, (L117).

Rated capacity/load centres
Understand the causes of instability of lift-truck and load

Carry out a pre-use inspection checks
Refuelling or battery charging and maintenance
Basic steering
Advanced steering (chicane, confined areas)
Elementary use of hydraulic controls
Loading and unloading a vehicle (if required)
Use of industrial racking systems
Use of free-standing stacks (if required)
Stacking and de-stacking at all level from ground to high levels
Operators practical skills test
On completion of the side loader forklift training course, the trainee will be able to:
Name all the main components of the truck
Carry out a pre-shift inspection check & know when and how to report
Operate the truck within the safety limits defined by the manufacturer
Stack & de-stack from various heights with various loads safely
Manoeuvre a laden truck in a narrow confined area
Accrediting Body ITSSAR/AITT
This course is for operators with little or no previous experience using a Side Loader course complies with the standards set in accordance with the HSE Code of Practice. This also enables successful operators to use any Side Loader (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK.
This course is designed for the Operator who has had extensive practical experience, (longer than 12 months) but has never been formally trained or held certification.
Keep your skills up to date. To refresh job safety knowledge, and give corrective remedial and tests to truck operators who though previously trained and certificated may require a short safety refresher course, to maintain the correct standards of operation at an acceptable level.
